Spring 2010 Crias

SHADOWBERRY'S COSMOS

Color - Dark Fawn (?)

DOB - 4/8/2010

Dam - RA Barbi - 30897083

Sire - SA Peruvian Cordero's Buccaneer - 30023192

This little guy gives new meaning to the words “bouncing baby boy” as he is always in motion.

We are not quite sure what color he will turn out to be.  While his blanket appears dark fawn, his lower legs and his ears have a roan effect so it will be interesting to see how he develops.

His sire is a blue ribbon winner (MAPACA 2006) out of PPPeruvian Cordero who has himself produced many ribbon winners.

Bloodlines on his dam’s side include The Portland Kidd, PPeruvian Leon,  The Gentleman, and Peruvian Hemingway.

He is delightful, in ways that only an alpaca baby can be, and we enjoy watching his antics.

SHADOWBERRY'S CALLA

Color - Medium Fawn

DOB - 5/5/2010

Dam - Glenstone's China Girl -30399747

Sire - MLS Peruvian Sebastian - 1353549

If a little girl alpaca can be described as “feminine”  this one certainly can.  She appears slight of frame and delicate yet can outrun by far our male cria who is much larger and a month older.  She has beautiful coloring---caramel and cream in a vicuna pattern.  I really look forward to spinning her fleece next year.

Mom China is our most devoted dam who delivers easily and constantly keeps watch over her cria. China is of Royal Fawn lineage, a Dom Lucilio granddaughter and an ELK Hercules daughter.  Dad Sebastian, son of imports, was sired by 4Peruvian Wira Cocha and brings rare genetics to our herd.

At age 4, Sebastian was Color Champion at his first show, the  2008 NJ Alpaca Show.

His most current winnings include:

2010 - The NJ Alpaca Show and Sale - 1st Place Get of Sire

2010 - The MD Alpaca Show and Sale -2nd Place Get of Sire

2010 - MAPACA 1st place and Judges choice on his 3-ply mill spun skein from his fleece at age 4 1/2 !!!

2010-MAPACA 5th place Fleece competition with a score of 71 !!!

Sebastian’s offspring are doing well in the show ring and we look forward to showing Calla in spring of 2011.

 SHADOWBERRY'S CYNARA

Color - Light Fawn

DOB - 6/2/2010

Dam - Glenstone's M-O-Lee -1237092

Sire - Highland Oberon - 1194906

Another pretty little girl!  Quiet the first couple of days, now she is quite active and gives the older crias quite a workout as they chase her all over the pasture.

Mom M-O-Lee tends to have crias who are independent and Cynara is no exception.  She does not always have to be in the middle of the herd and will sometimes go off and sit by herself. M-O-Lee is a PPeruvian Felix daughter and a PPPeruvian Augusto granddaughter.

Sire Oberon is out of a breeding program that ranks in the top 2% in the nation.  His awards include:

2007 - Reserve Color Champion, Carolina Alpaca Celebration

2006 - 1st place AOBA Nationals

2006 - 2nd place, Kentucky Classic

2005 - 2nd place, Buckeye Classic

In addition, both of Oberon's parents are multiple award winners.
